Victoria Johnston of Calgary and Justin Murphy of Perth were named the top female and male athletes respectively, at the 14th-annual Competitive Club Awards. Johnston has competed on the synchronized swimming team for the past five seasons. This year she coached the Yellow Squad who won gold at the divisional finals and finished fourth at nationals. She also competed with the swim team.
Murphy serves a dual role on the triathlon club as both its club president and cycling coach. His results this year included a second place finish at the University of Toronto’s Hart House Triathlon in February. Murphy is the first-ever male triathlete to capture this honour. Johnston is the second synchronized swimmer to win on the women’s side.
