Queen’s rowing takes bronze at OUAs
The men’s and women’s rowing teams travelled to St. Catharines on Saturday to compete in the OUA championships. The teams had high hopes for a repeat of last year’s double-victory, but both finished in 3rd place.
The women’s team finished with 63 points, trailing the University of Western Ontario (98 points) and Brock University (93 points). The men’s side saw a similar result, with Queen’s 73 points falling behind Western’s 80 points and Brock’s 78 points.
26 Queen’s rowers head to Montreal to participate in the national championships tomorrow and Sunday.

Field hockey receives star treatment
Field hockey forward Emily Newton and sweep Mary-Anne Reid received second-team OUA All-Star honours this week.
Newton led the team in scoring, ing four goals, an assist and a corner over the course of the season.
Reid only notched one goal this season, but is the Gaels’ defensive leader. She was a second-team All-Star last season, too.

Four women’s rugby players named All-Stars
Four women’s rugby players were named Russel Division All-Stars this week. The division’s leading scorer, fullback Andrea Wadsworth, led the Gaels’ charge into the record books having completed her first full regular season. Winger Karlye Wong, scrum-half Susan Heald and winger Jocelyn Poirer also received All-Star nominations.

Women’s water polo beats Lions
The women’s water polo team picked up their first win in more than a year last weekend as they beat the York Lions 9-8 at the PEC.
Shannel Rajan scored five of the Gaels’ nine goals.
