FAQ

1. How do I get started?

Our News, Opinions, Arts & Culture, Sports, Business, Science, & Technology (BST) and Visual teams are always looking for new perspectives. If there’s a specific section you’re looking to contribute to, just get in touch with the head editors by e-mail. If you don’t have a story idea or you’re unsure of which section you want to , don’t sweat it. E-mail the Editor(s) in Chief and they can answer your questions. You are also always welcome to drop by the Journal House at 190 University Ave. during office hours posted on the door and talk to staff or the head editors.

2. Do I need experience?

Nope. We’re a place for students to learn about journalism. No matter your experience level, we want to hear from you.

3. Are there more ways I can contribute than just writing?

There’s a lot more to newspapers than writing stories, so we’re looking for students from all backgrounds to help in all areas. Here’s a list of some of the skills we’re looking for:

  • Photography
  • Videography
  • Graphic design
  • Coding and web development
  • Illustration

4. What’s the time commitment?

That’s up to you. You can write one story a semester, or an article a day. University is a busy time, so no matter how much you write, design, photograph, we’re happy you reached out.

5. Are you hiring?
