Cole Olidis, Silas Tamlyn, and Helena Shimwell, all ArtSci ’25, were announced as the new Arts and Science Undergraduate Society (ASUS) executives on Jan. 30.

As the first ASUS candidates to run alone instead of in a team, all three received over 80.0 per cent of the confidence vote, despite a historically low voter turnout. Of the 13,008 students eligible to vote, 596 cast an electronic ballot.

Olidis was elected president, Shimwell was elected vice-president (society affairs), and Tamlyn was elected vice-president (operations) for the 2024-25 school year. All candidates ran uncontested.

In a social media post, Olidis thanked everyone who has ed him, and referenced his beginnings at ASUS as a first-year intern.

“Throughout my undergraduate degree thus far, ASUS has provided me with so many new and exciting opportunities I otherwise wouldn’t have had the ability to have,” he said.

Niki Ehsan will serve as a one-year senator for ASUS beginning in the fall. She will fill one of the six senate spots representing ASUS students at the University body governing academic affairs.
