“Letting [employees] go isn’t an outcome any of us wanted,” Evans said during the meeting. “Some of these people have worked at Bader for a very long time, up to 25 years.”
Evans met with Bader College employees to discuss the situation he described as “sad.”
Bader College closed in November 2023 due to structural issues at Herstmonceux Castle. As a result, over 100 students expecting to spend the year in the United Kingdom finished their school year in Kingston. issions to the College are closed for the 2024-25 school year.
Senators were disheartened to hear Bader employees are receiving notices of layoffs considering late alumni donor Alfred Bader’s, ArtSci ’45, 100th birthday is nearing. There’s never a good day to inform people they’re going to be laid off, Evans said.
