
Queen’s s the cultivation of new, artistic ideas and the facilitation of spiritual healing through the BeWell Grant.
The grant, funded by Human Resources, s wellness activities and programs on campus created by Queen’s staff and faculty. The activities and programs must focus on areas outlined in the Queen’s Campus Wellbeing Framework, including culture—expanding opportunities for reflective and positive leadership—belonging, social connection, personal well-being, and places—creating and maintaining inclusive outdoor and indoor areas.
BeWell applicants must fill out a form detailing their activity or program and receive an endorsement from their department leader. Of the 43 candidates that applied, 21 received funding, including the Agnes Waterways Experimental Learning initiative and a Ribbon Skirt Workshop for the Four Directions Indigenous Student Centre team.
Agnes Etherington Art Centre affirms its commitment to decolonial practices through the Agnes Waterways Experimental Learning initiative, the Queen’s Gazette reported. During the Waterways Initiative, the Agnes team will kayak along Lake Ontario to brainstorm new art programs.

The experience will inspire the Agnes team to become better leaders and stewards in the arts community, the Gazette report added.
Also cultivating stronger relationships is the Four Directions team who participate in a Ribbon Skirt workshop. The Ribbon Skirt, made with colourful ribbons and symbolic designs connected to ancestry, community, and spirituality, is worn for special occasions like weddings and graduation. The Four Directions team will wear the skirts to special events and ceremonies on campus.
Another BeWell program already launched by Human Resources and Hospitality Services is $5 Fridays. On Aug. 9, 16, and 23 Queen’s employees enjoyed a $5, budget-friendly barbecue outside Mackintosh-Corry Hall.
