‘Gaels Tackle Hunger Food Drive’ initiative raises 1,126 pounds of food

On Sunday Oct. 3, the Queen’s Football team was stationed at the front entrance of Metroon Barrie Street collecting non-perishables for their annual initiative, the ‘Gaels Tackle Hunger Food Drive.’ 
The Queen’s Gaels defeated the University of Toronto (UofT) Varsity Blues on Saturday, 35-11.

After nearly 700 days of inaction, OAU football kicked off over the weekend, with the Queen’s Gaels facing off against the Carleton Ravens at MNP Park on Saturday afternoon.

After a year without stepping on the gridiron, Queen’s Football head coach Steve Snyder has a deceptively simple goal in mind for this year.
“It hasn’t been an ideal year.”
Six Queen’s football players were recognized by the 2021 U SPORTS East-West Bowl roster earlier this month.
When today’s students zip through Mackintosh-Corry Hall between lectures for a reprieve from the winter wind, few, if any, are aware they’re standing on hallowed ground.
The CFL season cancellation puts many players, especially those with a family to provide for, in a tough situation. A year without football means a year without guaranteed income, forcing many to explore different employment opportunities.  
Just over a week ago, all of Cameron Lawson’s hard work paid off.
Gaels defensive lineman Cameron Lawson, one of the most dominant rushers in U SPORTS this season, was an invitee to this year’s Canadian Football League (CFL) National Combine.
The 2020 Canadian Football League combine season is almost underway, and there are five Gaels who will be getting evaluated by Canadian Football League (CFL) teams.
Under the lights, with Queen’s season on the line, senior defensive end Tyler Roy delivered a monstrous performance.
Queen’s alumni were out in full force as the Gaels took a well-earned 23-2 win over the York Lions this Homecoming weekend.
Last Thursday, the Gaels took on the Guelph Gryphons, who were ranked fifth in the country ahead of the nighttime matchup. The Gaels lost a heartbreaker to the Gryphons in overtime, 27-24.
Sitting with a record of 2-4, the Gaels are irers when looking at the playoff picture.
Offensive Coordinator Tom Flaxman and Head Coach Steve Snyder have a great problem. A problem, surely, but as good as they come.
