Sports in Brief: Week 4

Varsity SportsFootballThe Men’s Football team recorded another win over the weekend, bringing their season record to a stellar 3-0. With Saturday’s victory over the University of Toronto (UofT), the Gaels are now the only team in the entire OUA to have not lost a game this season, catapulting them to the top of the provincial rankings. This week, they will face off against the Guelph Gryphons (1-1) at Richardson Stadium on Oct. 8, with kickoff starting at 6 p.m.Rugby
Athletics and Recreation (A&R) observed the National Day of Truth and Reconciliation with the rest of the Queen’s community on Sept. 30.  
This past summer, Bruno Chan, ArtSci ’22, made a decision that would redirect his entire career in sports at Queen’s—trying out for the soccer team.
With the regular season just underway, the Queen’s Field Hockey team is coming out swinging.
From a record-length field goal by Ravens’ kicker Justin Tucker to seal the win against Detroit to a Monday Night revival of the Eagles-Cowboys rivalry, NFL football didn’t disappoint last week. Finally, after strong performances from Josh Allen, Justin Jefferson, and Chris Carson, The Journal recorded its first win of the season and now sits at 1-2 against the Western Gazette.
The Women’s Soccer team remains undefeated this season after their 2-0 win over Carleton at Richardson Stadium over the weekend.

The Men’s football team notched their second victory of the season over the weekend, routing the uOttawa Gee-Gees 30-17 on Sept 25.
The Queen’s Gaels beat the uOttawa Gee-Gees during their home opener on Saturday.
The Women’s Soccer Team has recruited a player from its own backyard.
After last week, Hannah Duchesneau is no longer a stranger to sporting the maple leaf on her volleyball uniform.
Queen’s University announced it will participate in a new financial program ing Black and Indigenous student-athletes. 
From Lamar Jackson’s defeat of Patrick Mahomes in a Sunday night thriller to Jameis Winston and Aaron Rodgers’ reset to more routine performances, the NFL season enters its third week with another exciting slate of games.
At a time when most club might still be getting their bearings with school, of the Queen’s Esports Association (QEA) are acting like varsity athletes—putting in countless hours of weekly practice and preparation for their competitive season. 
After nearly 700 days of inaction, OAU football kicked off over the weekend, with the Queen’s Gaels facing off against the Carleton Ravens at MNP Park on Saturday afternoon.

After a year without stepping on the gridiron, Queen’s Football head coach Steve Snyder has a deceptively simple goal in mind for this year.
The opening week of the NFL season has come and gone. From an MVP-sized collapse out of Aaron Rodgers, to an MVP-level performance from Jameis Winston, to some wild overtime antics in Las Vegas, NFL football is back. Though The Journal was unsuccessful in last week’s contest against The Western Gazette, this week should offer more promise—or at least a similar level of excitement.
After missing an entire season of formal competition, the Queen’s Men’s and Women’s Rugby teams are eager to resume and repeat their dominant performances of the past.
After 15 months without facing other competitors, the Queen’s Men’s and Women’s soccer teams are, understandably, ready to pick up exactly where they left off two seasons ago.
