Engineering Society announces executive results after highly contested election

Jack Walker will be the next EngSoc President

On a cold winter’s night, the fire of Smith Engineering burned bright in the ILC where the new Engineering Society (EngSoc) executive were revealed.

President-elect Jack Walker, Sci ’25, got the vote, while Monique Kelly, Sci ’26 won the vote of confidence for vice-president (student affairs), and Avery McFadden, Sci ’25, will be the next vice-president (financial istration) role.

“I came into tonight thinking we’re going to have an awesome team no matter who won, it’s going to be great. We’re going to get a great director team and I’m expecting good things,” Walker said in an interview with The Journal.

McFadden, noting the high voter turnout, thanked all voters and expressed gratitude for the he’s received during election season.

Kelly expressed her excitement in being elected, thanking the elections committee and all candidates who ran.

Lily Stock, Sci ’26, got the vote of confidence in an uncontested election to be next year’s vice-president (operations). The contested election between David Parsons and Jenny Breau, both Sci ’27, for Junior Senator saw Breau triumphant.

Stock thanked everyone she worked with this year, including the current executive, in her position of Director of Retail Services for EngSoc.

The current EngSoc executive will start transitioning the incoming group of executives to take on their forthcoming responsibilities.

Engineering students voted to terminate the optional sixty-dollar Better Equipment Donation Fund (BED Fund) fee, meaning educational supplies will be bought using interest generated by the existing fund.
