Gaels Cross-Country double down on wins at St. Lawrence’s Hoffman Invitational

Both Men’s and Women’s came first with nearly identical scores

The Men’s and Women’s teams finished first at the Hoffman Invitational.

The Men’s and Women’s Cross-Country teams travelled south to St. Lawrence University in Canton, New York, where they won big at the Hoffmann Invitational on Sept. 21.

On the Men’s side of the scoresheet, Queen’s came first with a combined score of 24. Jude Wheeler-Dee, ArtSci ’25, led the pack, finishing in first place with a time of 25:18.5.

Roman Mironov, Comm ’25, finished in second place, just 13.3 seconds behind Wheeler-Dee. Will Cox, Grad ’25, Tanner Hueglin, ArtSci ’26, and Angus Skinner, ConEd ’28, rounded out the standings for the Gaels—Cox finished in fourth, Hueglin in sixth, and Skinner coming in at 11.

The Women’s timesheet showed a near identical outcome for the Gaels, scoring a 25 on the day, winning them the meet.

Led by Alyshia Alkerton, ArtSci ’25, the Gaels narrowly edged out all other competitors. Alkerton recorded a 21:43.1. Following close behind was Ella Lane, ArtSci ’25, who finished in third place with a time of 22:20.5. The third Gael to round out the top five was Elizabeth Vroom, Sci ’26, who clocked in at 22:51.2.

Among the competitors the Gaels sured on route to their victory was National Collegiate Athletics Association D3 Middlebury College Panthers. The Panthers, who’s Men’s team is ranked 21 in their division, scored a 25 on the day. The Panther’s Women’s team is ranked 13 and scored a 36 at the meet.
