Kingston police to pick up Toronto’s cheque

Kingston police will be getting a bill from the Toronto police for extra officers sent to Kingston to police Homecoming weekend. Toronto police supplied a video surveillance team and a public order unit—about 30 officers—for Homecoming weekend.

“We work with a wide variety of agencies, and depending on the circumstances on some occasions we bill those organizations. In this case, we’re in the process of doing that,” Mark Pugash, a spokesperson for the Toronto police, told the Journal.

Pugash said he can’t disclose the amount they’re charging the Kingston.

“We wouldn’t normally discuss a matter that is between us and Kingston, other then to say we’re in the process of billing them.” According to a Police Services Board meeting Oct. 18, Toronto Police costs ran to an estimated $34,000.
