Theft at EngSoc office

The EngSoc finance computer, the contents of the EngSoc safe and Science Quest digital cameras were stolen from the Society’s office in the ILC during a break-in last week.

EngSoc President Chris Zabaneh e-mailed EngSoc last Wednesday to inform them of the theft.

In the e-mail, he said the items were stolen sometime before 11:15 a.m. on Oct. 17, and that there were signs of forced entry on both the office door and the safe.

Zabaneh later told the Journal that some information in the e-mail was his speculation. He added that although there haven’t been any developments regarding the theft, business is back to normal at the office.

“We are completely up and running and we have a new safe,” he said. “This [incident] is very unfortunate, but this is not going to affect the operation of any of our clubs or d groups.”

A full report of the theft will be made at the Oct. 27 EngSoc council meeting.
