A temporary power reduction in the south-east corner of campus, which began yesterday, will be in effect until Wednesday, Sept. 21
“It is happening because of a problem with the Utilities Kingston power feed,” said Thomas Morrow, associate vice principal (operations and facilities). “In order to have it repaired we need to reduce our power demand.”
Buildings to be affected include the Biosciences Complex, Botterell Hall, Cancer Research Institute, Humphrey Hall and the Louise D. Acton Building.
Morrow said lights in the affected buildings will remain on but air conditioning will be turned off.
“We are hoping that [the power reduction] won’t affect students,” he said.
The power reduction will help Utilities Kingston make emergency repairs to Kingston General Hospital.
