Segal named to Senate
University professor Hugh Segal has been appointed to the Canadian Senate as a member of the Conservative Party of Canada. The appointment, announced on Aug. 2, is another accolade for the professor, who was named to the Order of Canada in 2003.
Segal is a director of the Public Executive Program for the university as well as a professor of Public Policy in the School of Business and a senior fellow in the School of Policy Studies.
Since 1999, Segal has been president of the Institute for Research on Public Policy, a non-partisan research organization focusing on issues of Canadian federal policy. He is also a political author and television commentator. His columns can be read regularly in the Financial Post and he can be seen as a list on The Editors and Pamela Wallin.
