Outside hitter Joren Zeeman was in the OUA’s top three of nearly every statistical category including points, points per game and kills per game. The third-year outside hitter was named the OUA championship’s player of the game in the men’s volleyball after posting a game-high 19 kills in the team’s victory over the Guelph Gryphons. He added to his OUA honour streak this season when he was named an OUA first-team All-Star for the second consecutive time and helped the Gaels into the top five in the country, leading the team in kills in their five-set win over the Thompson Rivers University Wolf Pack in the fifth-place game.

Forward Mitch Leger was one of the most dominant players in Canada this season. The OUA First-Team All-Star notched 160 rebounds and 285 points this season, first and fifth in the CIS, respectively. He led the team to a playoff berth and posted a season-high 35 points in their OUA East quarter-final overtime victory over the
Ryerson Rams.

In her rookie season with the squash team, Erin Roberts never lost a game, claiming OUA Rookie of the Year in the process. Roberts was the number one competitor for the Gaels and one both of her semifinal and championship matches en route to the Gaels’ OUA gold. The OUA First-Team All-Star was one spot away from qualifying for the World University Games, coming second in the women’s open category at the 2010 Black Knight University College Championship.

Jon Beuk skipped for the top university curling team in Canada. He led the Gaels to a perfect record in the Draw 6 round of the national championship before overcoming
a 5-2 deficit to defeat the University of Manitoba Bisons in the semifinal match. In the final, Beuk led the Gaels to a 7-6 victory over the University of Prince Edward Island Panthers to bring the national banner back to Kingston. As a result of the win, Beuk and the Queen’s team will represent Canada in
the 2011 FISU Winter Universiade in Turkey.

Jan Stirling was successful at the provincial and national levels this year, earning two bronze medals at the OUA championships and fifth and sixth place finishes at the CIS championships. The fifth-year student was on the podium at OUAs and in the top 10 at CIS as a part of the 4×200-metre and 4×400-metre relay teams. Stirling also collected substantial hardware during the season with gold medal performances in the women’s 300-metre at the York Open and at Cornell University in the Kane Memorial Invitational for women’s 500-metre and the 4×400-metre relay.

Forward Liz Kench earned Second-Team All-Star honours from the OUA this season. She notched 38 points in the regular season, first in the province and fourth-best in the country. Her performance this season contributed to the Gaels’ seventh-place national ranking.
