Canada Basketball and the Ontario Basketball Association (OBA) have announced that Queen’s will host the U15 and U17 boys national championships for the 2019-20 season.
The best young basketball talents in the country will descend on Kingston to compete for the national title. The competition dates are tentatively scheduled for Aug. 3 to 8, 2020, with finals on Aug. 8.
Team Ontario will be looking for revenge in these tournaments after finishing the 2019 championships with silver medals in both divisions, falling to Quebec in each final.
All the games and practices will be held at Queen’s, making campus the centre of the championships and an easy way for athletes to commute between courts.
Newly renovated Mitchell Hall, which contains six gyms, as well as the courts in the ARC, will be able to easily accommodate the dozens of games the championships will consist of.
The games will be streamed through an online platform and free to watch across the province.
