Golf captain headed to world games

Queen’s golf team captain Patrick Forbes placed seventh at the RCGA University/College Championship in Fredericton, hosted by the University of New Brunswick. Forbes scored a three-under-par 69 in his final round, which featured four birdies.

The next Monday, he shot a one-under-par 71 at the Thornhill Golf Club in Toronto to qualify for the Ontario Amateur Championship.

Forbes will be one of six male golfers representing Canada at the Universiade World games in Bangkok, Thailand August 8-18.

“Patrick is a very accomplished golfer and is an asset as captain of the Queen’s golf team,” coach Bert Kea said.

“I am looking forward to improving the Queen’s placement in the OUAs with Patrick’s leadership.” —Mike Woods
