T.J. Leeper OUA’s Russ Jackson nominee, Brannagan loses out on OUA MVP
Linebacker T.J. Leeper was announced yesterday as the OUA’s nominee for the CIS’s Russ Jackson award, which is presented to the football player who best excels in academics, football and citizenry.
Quarterback Danny Brannagan lost out to Western Mustangs quarterback Michael Faulds for OUA most valuable player honours.

Ten Gaels named football All-Stars
Quarterback Danny Brannagan headlines an OUA All-Star team studded with Tricolour superstars as the Gaels fly toward tomorrow’s Yates Cup clash with the Western Mustangs.
Tackle Matt O’Donnell, receiver Scott Valberg, defensive end Osie Ukwuoma and cornerback Jimmy Allin round out the first team All-Stars.
On the second team are centre Dan Bederman, guard Vince DeCivita, kicker Dan Village, halfback David Rooney and Allin again as the kick returner.

Men’s rugby wraps up host of awards
Lock Ryan Kruyne headlined a host of Gaels receiving awards leading up to Saturday’s Turner Trophy match with the Western Mustangs.
Kruyne was named OUA player of the year. His season point tally signified the Gaels’ depth as he scored three tries and made 30 conversions for a total of 99 points, giving him a 15-point lead on the league’s second-highest scorer.
Scrum-half Liam Underwood was named the league’s rookie of the year, marking the second straight year that a Queen’s player took home the award. Wing Scott Kyle won the award last year. Underwood scored six tries and six conversions for 42 points, good for sixth in the OUA.
Head coach Peter Huigenbos wrapped up coach of the year honours for the second-straight year after leading his team to its second-straight undefeated season and first perfect season since 2001.
Kruyne and Underwood are ed on the All-Star team by eight-man Pat Richardson, Flanker Tim Richardson, wing Chris Barrett and inside-centre Graeme Dibden.

MacLellan CIS player of the year
Women’s soccer striker Renée MacLellan was awarded the Chantal Navert Memorial Award as the CIS player of the year, yesterday before the nationals tournament.
MacLellan had a stellar year with Queen’s, leading as the only fifth-year player on the squad. She notched a career-high 12 goals in 16 games, leaving her second in scoring in the OUA.
