Elamin Abdelmahmoud and Hakim Kassam, both ArtSci ’09, were acclaimed with 73.7 per cent of the vote, or 2,144 votes.
Final results came in at about 5:40 a.m.
ASUS Chief Returning Officer Kimberley Molina said ballot counting was slowed down by an unusually high number of spoiled ballots.
Molina also said the election team had fewer scrutineers than candidates, which also impeded ballot counting.
“We want to make sure we’re as thorough as possible and we want to make sure it is all correct.”
Abdelmahmoud and Kassam could not be reached for comment by press time.
