Tim’s gets fresh in BioSci

Biology students craving a double double before class won’t have to walk very far come September.

A new full-service Tim Hortons is being installed in the BioSciences Complex, replacing the former BioSci Deli.

“We would certainly like to be open before Frosh Week,” said Bruce Griffiths, director of residence and hospitality services.

He said unlike the current Tim Hortons run by Sodexho in the JDUC’s Sidewalk Café, this outlet will offer the full line of products, including soup and sandwiches.

“Basically what you would see when you go to [the] Clergy Street [location],” Griffiths said.

He said he thinks the new service will be more popular than the BioSci Deli, although “it was doing well.”

“Tim’s is an extremely successful brand in Canada,” Griffiths said. “The BioSci Deli, it was …

very generic.”

Students will be able to use flex dollars to make purchases, he added.

“I think students are really going to enjoy it.”

Brown’s Fine Foods, which ran the former food service and will run the Tim Hortons, recently renewed its contract with the University. They will also make some changes to the food service in their Botterell Hall Bistro.
