An all-around dominant display made for a large margin of victory at Homecoming.
In their final home game of the 2014 season, the Gaels (2-5) walloped the York Lions (0-7) to the tune of 57-10, extending their winning streak to two games.
Queen’s excelled in all aspects of the game as they put forth an impressive offensive performance and created havoc on both defence and special teams.
The scoring started early. On the Gaels’ opening drive, Billy Mhee found receiver Alex Carroll for an 84-yard catch-and-run touchdown, to give the squad an early lead they wouldn’t let go of.
Running back Jesse Andrews punched in Queen’s next two touchdowns, before Mhee connected with Carroll again. The wideout hauled in the ball and make an impressive effort to stay in bounds for the score.
Carroll shone on the day, recording seven receptions for 209 yards to go along with three touchdowns, the third of which put the Gaels in front 43-7 at the half.
While the offence slowed down in the second half, the defence stayed strong, conceding only a single field goal.
Doug Corby scored the Gaels’ only touchdown in the half, snagging a from Mhee. The fifth-year quarterback finished the game with 386 yards and four touchdowns with no interceptions.
Queen’s heads to Ottawa next weekend, where they’ll face the Carleton Ravens (4-3) in their season finale Saturday at 1 p.m.
